Power Pinays settle for 12th place at the 17th Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship

The final game of the Philippine women’s national volleyball team turned out not as what many expect. Fans thought that their straight loss against India at the preliminary round of the championship would be a great motivation to beat India for the 11th place. But the fans were proven wrong!

Perhaps the motivation and eagerness to get back at India was there, but their inexperienced in the international scene got into their nerves, which eventually showed up in their final game.

The Power Pinays was again beaten by India in straight sets, 25-18, 25-22, 25-16 for a spot in the 11th place. The girls game was plagued with so many service errors, miscommunications and wide attacks.

In the second set, they looked to have collected themselves and poised to take the set, but India showed more confidence and accuracy in their attacks, thus ending the set with 22-25 score in favor of India.

The third set was a different story.

The Power Pinays confidence crumbled, and they were not able to cope up to the pressure of playing “a must win set” to bring the game to the 4rth set. Third set became lopsided, and ended with 25-16 score.

Power Pinays loss to India relegated them to the 12th place at this year’s Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship.

From 16th place in the preliminary round, to 12th? NOT BAD! We’re back! And we’ll just keep getting strong!

Proud of our #FibrPowerPinays!!!!!
