Forty three year old Michael “Mitoy” Yonting was proclaimed grand winner of The Voice of the Philippines Sunday night at the final show in Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila, Pasay City.
Known for his high, effortless voice and energetic performance, The Draybers band singer from Manila, Mitoy of Team Lea belted out a soulful rendition of “Help” en route to winning the first season of the hit TV talent search, with 57.65% of the public votes.
After actively pursuing a career in the industry at an early age without any luck, Mitoy has finally proven his worth by winning The Voice of the Philippines’ title.
First season runner-up is De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde student, Klarisse de Guzman.
Klarisse sang Leo Valdez’ “Magsimula Ka” for her final performance at the grand finals, garnering 42.35% of the public votes.
Earlier in the show, the four finalists were cut into two for the grand finals showdown.
Janice Javier of team Apl and Myk Perez of team Bamboo, bow down from the grand finals showdown after only garnering the lowest two votes.
