After her short stint in London where she will be based in her entire reign, Miss World 2013 Megan Young is scheduled to return back to the Philippines this Thursday, October 10. 2013.
Cory Quirino, Miss World Philippines pageant director, has confirmed that Philippines’ first ever Miss World will be coming back Thursday next week, Megan Young’s first time after winning the coveted Miss World Crown.
“A grand motorcade is scheduled for Megan Young on Friday afternoon at 2:00pm in Ayala Avenue, Makati,” Quirino said.
Just last Friday, Megan Young had his first TV appearance as the crowned Miss World at the BBC World News TV “Impact.
Mishal Husain, BBC World News TV “Impact” presenter told Megan that she has been reading the news and that her pictures are still all over the Philippine newspapers. She then asked Megan’s reaction to this.
It’s heartwarming for me because we’ve had a lot of issues going for the past month back home with tragedies that have been happening. And for me to be that spark of hope and inspiration back home,” she said. “For me to being able to uplift the spirits of my fellow Filipinos is an honor actually,” Megan added.
When asked if Miss World pageant is still relevant in this modern world, Megan said that it’s still relevant. No matter where we go. No matter what time we are in the world. People always need help. They constantly need help and that is the purpose of Miss World.
“To reach out to people. To reach out to the less privileged. And my goal this year is not only to do that, but also let people know what they can do to help as well,” Megan stressed.
