City_of_Dreams_ManilaThe next big thing in the Entertainment City of Manila by mid 2014 is the rising and opening of the new casino-resort named City of Dreams Manila.

Named after the flagship City of Dreams resort in Macau, Belle Grande of Henry Sy and integrated casino resort developer Melco Crown Resorts Corporation have unveiled the name of their entertainment complex last Wednesday.

“City of Dreams Manila will herald a new era of entertainment in Manila and will provide visitors with an exceptional world-class gaming and entertaining experience,” said Lawrence Ho, CEO of Melco Crown Resorts.

With an increased budget of $680 million, the development now includes a 260-room Crown Towers hotel, a luxury premium brand that will cater to high-end VIP and premium clients of the resort.

Melco Crown Philippines chairman Clarence Chung said the Phiippines is the 3rd city to have the Crown Towers brand. The 2 others are Crown Towers in Melbourne, Australia and Forbes Five Star Crown Towers hotel in Macau.

Another development is the increased number of gaming tables and electronic gaming machines after the state-run Pagcor revised gaming regulations. City of Dreams Manila will then operate approximately 365 gaming tables, 1,680 slot machines, and 1,680 electronic games.

The casino resort will have more than 250,000 square meters of gross floor area, including 17,000 sqm of gaming space and more than 20,000 sqm of retail facilities and hotel rooms.

It is expected to attract players from China, Macau, Hong Kong and other neighboring countries.

“If you look at the location of Manila in the map, it’s directly in the middle of North Asia. We expect to have a strong client base originating from China, Hong Kong Macau and the region. We also expect players from Southeast Asia,” Lawrence Ho added.

The City of Dreams Manila will not only attract players, but also market the resort as a vacation spot.

“We are very encouraged and enthiusastic in the market here in Manila. There’s going to be a lot of fun things to do [in City of Dreams of Manila]. Whether you are a family person, a fun loving person, there’s going to be plenty of things to do,” he added.
