From skimpy bikinis, to body suites; science has invented and introduced a new swimming attire that will rock Asia in the coming years, the “facekinis”.
Now trending in Chinese beaches in Qingdao in eastern China’s Shandong province, beach goers have been seen wearing facekinis to protect their faces from the burning sun.
The upper part of the swimsuit has a ski-mask with holes cut out at appropriate places to leave the eyes, nose and mouth exposed, giving the wearer an odd Lucha libre look.
The face-kinis were produced to protect beach goers’ faces from sunburn, while the facekinis are also known from repelling insects and jellyfish.
This new swim wear that will probably soon hit the Asian market was initially started as by women who use scraps of fabrics and sew them like masks to protect their faces from then sun.
But now, facekinis can be found at swimwear shops in China for 15 to 25 yuan ($2.40 to $4.00) each.
