Ariella Arida, the twenty-four year old, 5’8″ stunner from Laguna, is all set to compete against 86 other beauties from around the world.

“I can go to the Miss Universe pageant anytime,” stated the Chemistry graduate from UP when asked how ready she was.

Since crowned as Binibining Pilipinas Universe last April, Arida has undergone months of rigorous training in preparation for the pageant. Her training included personality development, speech and language, social graces, physical training, hair and make-up, as well as one-on-one coaching with fellow beauty queens Venus Raj and Shamcey Supsup.

Hopes are high that she will do well in the pageant, after the back-to-back win of Miss Supranational 2013, Mutya Johanna Datul, and Miss World 2013, Megan Lynn Young.

“It is a good sign that Mutya and Megan won. It serves as motivation for me to work harder; it pushes me to exert more effort,” Arida said.

In the sixty year history of Miss Universe pageant, Philippines has won the crown two times, in 1969 (Gloria Diaz) and 1973 (Margarita Moran).

Philippines has made it to the top five finalists for the past three years, with Janine Tugonon winning 1st Runner-up last year.

Pressure is really high for Arida after our country’s good showing in Miss Universe. But Ariella Arida is up for the challenge.

“The pressure has been there from the start, ever since I won in the Binibining Pilipinas 2013 pageant,” said Arida. “I’ve worked hard to prepare for the pageant. I feel proud to be representing the Philippines, and I am focused on winning the crown for the country. I want the universe to know that Filipinos are not only beautiful—we are also raised with a deep love of our country and God,” she added.

Miss Universe 2013 contestants will start to arrive in Moscow from October 20-24, where a welcome dinner is prepared on the 25th of this month. The National Costume competition is scheduled on November 3, while the preliminary competition is on the 5th of November.

Coronation night is on November 9 at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia, to be hosted by Scary Spioce, Mel B and MSNBC Live anchor, Thomas Roberts.

God bless Ariella Arida!
