Fifty one members of SMART national taekwondo will undergo an exclusive training in Korea from October 27 to November 9, in preparation for the up-coming 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar this December, and for other international championships next year.
Spearheaded by John Paul Lizardo and Kirstie Elaine Alora, there are 15 senior team members to be sent for training including male jins Kristopher Robert Uy, Christian Al Dela Cruz, Samuel Thomas Harper Morrison, Gershon Bautista, Paul Romero, Francis Aaron Agojo, Keno Anthony Mendoza and Eddtone Bobb Lumasac, as well as female jins Mary Anjelay Pelaez, Jade Zafra, Jane Rafaelle Narra, Nicole Abigail Cham and Ma. Isabella Erika Mora. They will be accompanied by four officials namely Jun Ho Ko, Roberto Cruz, Dindo Simpao and Dax Alberto Morfe.
Also included in the training are 20 junior athletes (12 male and 8 female, as well as 16 cadets (8 male and 8 female).
The senior team members will have their final tuneup for the 27th Myanmar SEA Games, while the juniors will be training for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games qualification tournaments. The cadets are preparing for the 2014 1st World Cadet Taekwondo Championships.
The training aims to pump-up the Pinoy jins fighting spirit as well as to improve their skills as they are scheduled to face strong taekwondo athletes from Korean taekwondo schools and gymnasiums like Pung Saeng School, Sang Moo Military Varsity team and taekwondo professionals tried to qualify for world champions.
While in Korea, they will also participate in the 4th Asian University Games and 1st Asian University Open Championships in Cheong Yang, Korea from October 30 to November 4.
