Philippines’ campaign at the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar will kick-off with the Philippine national wushu artists first seeing action in the prestigious biennial meet in the region.
The Filipino wushu team composed of Daniel Parantac, Dembert Arcita, Divine Wally, Evita Elise Zamora, Francisco Solis, Jessie Aligaga, Kariza Kris Chan, John Keithly Chan, Natasha Laxamana, Norlence Adee Catolico, and Thornton Queeny Lou Sayan are set to start Philippines’ campaign on Saturday, December 7.
Taolu artists are seeing action on the first day of the competition, where gold medals for the men’s Duilian, men’s Changquan, women’s Nanquan and women’s Jianshu events are up for grab.
Preliminary competitions in both mens and women’s Taijiquan will also start on December 7, as well as category 48 kg for men’s and women’s Sanshou events.
None of the our wushu artists won a gold medal in the Taolu events last SEA Games. Coming close to winning the gold medal are the trio of John Keithley N. Chan, Engelbert B. Addongan and Eleazar T. Jacob in the Duilian event, as well as Daniel Parantac in the Taijiquan + Taijijian event.
The team has already left for Myanmar yesterday, hoping to equal or surpass their 2 golds, 4 silvers and 3 bronze medal haul last 2011 SEA Games in Indonesia.
