The Billiards and Sports Congress of the Philippines (BSCP) and Philippine Judo Federation (PJF) target to bring home 5 gold medals each in their participation at the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar this month.
Two time World 10-Ball champion Rubilen Amit said that the Philippine billiards team is focused in winning the gold medals in the men’s and women’s 8-Ball and 10-Ball events, so as in the carom events.
Amit will be joined by 2011 SEA Games 8-Ball at 9-Ball gold medalist Iris Ranola in the women’s billiards quest for gold.
Multi-titled and international veteran campaigner Dennis Orcollo will represent Philippines in the 8-Ball, while Carlo Biado in 10-Ball event. Francisco dela Cruz will play in carom events.
Five SEAG gold medals is also the target of the Philippine judo team, where 18 golds are at stake in the said sport at this year’s SEA Games.
The judo team is spearheaded by 2011 Indonesia SEAG gold medalist Nancy Quillotes-Lucero (45kg), and is joined by Kyumi Watanabe (66kg), Helen Dawa (48kg), Jelu Mosqueda (57kg), and Ruth Dugaduga (78kg) for the women’s division.
The men’s judo team is composed of Ryan Quillotes (60kg), Gilbert Ramirez (73kg), Dennis Catipon (66kg) and Andrew Gumola (90kg).
Billiards is scheduled to start on December 13, while Judo events will commence on December 19.
In the 2011 SEA Games in Indonesia, Philippine billiards team brought home 3 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals; while the Philippine judo won 1 gold and 6 bronze medals.
