Thirteen year-old Regina Maria Paz “Erin” Castrillo set another junior national record, her fourth in year 2013, at the Speedo Long Course National Swimming Championship in Rizal Memorial Swimming Center in Manila last December.
Erin broke the 400m Individual Medley (Girls 13 & Under) junior record (5:27.03) of Denjylie Cordero with a new record time of 5:26.27.
Early this year, Erin registered her first junior national record at the Palarong Pambansa in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental where she also broke the girl’s elementary Palarong Pambansa record of the 50m Butterfly event with a time of 28.68.
Erin broke Jasmine Alkhaldi’s 30.94 7-year-old record in the said event.
At the 37th SEA Age Group Swimming Championship in Brunei, Erin again stormed her way to another junior national record in the girls 100m butterfly event (13 & under) with a new record time of 1:06.15, enough to clinch her the bronze medal in the championship and enough to erase Marichi Gandionco’s 11 year old record time of 1:08.11 in the girls 13 & under age band.
Her third junior national record was set last August at the NCR Leg 1 of the Speedo LC G-League where she clocked 2:26.13 at the girls 13 year old 200m butterfly event.
She again broke Marichi Gandionco’s 11 year old record of 2:30.03 in this event.
