Fil-Japanese judoka Kiyomi Watanabe earned a berth to the 2014 Youth Olympic Games after netting a bronze medal in the Asian Youth Judo Championships in Hainan, China last December.

Seventeen year old Watanabe who is entered in the -63kg women’s division won her repechage fight against India’s Mitlesh to land a podium finish that secured her spot at the 2014 YOG in China this August.

Watanabe defeated Xu Yanhui of China in the first round, but lost to Korea’s Han Hee Ju, in the second round. Hee Ju was able to advance to the semifinal round (and eventually won the said event), thus moving Watanabe down to repechage.

She became the latest Filipino bound for the YOG, joining qualified archers Luis Gabriel Moreno and Bianca Roxas-Chua Gotuaco.

Watanabe then later won a gold medal in the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar.

I think you gave the wrong information. Kiyomi Watanabe must be tired of competing in 2013 Asian Junior Judo Championships and in the SEA Games. Both events were being held in December 2013. If I were the athlete, I’ll pick just one event to prevent me from injuries.

Anyways, please verify this news. Here is the full results from the website of Judo Union of Asia: http://www.onlinejua.org/admin/result/files/resultfile42%5B0%5D.pdf

this news is actually correct. the results you’ve posted is the results of the 14th Asian Junior Judo Championships also held in Hainan last December. This is a different tournament that Kiyomi joined in Hainan. She actually joined the 7th Asian Youth Judo Championships also in Hainan that week. Results are here : http://www.onlinejua.org/result_detail.php?pid=41

          Dear Kots Isko ,

Before 7th youth Championship in Hainan , Kiyomi has the entry of GRAND SLAM TOKYO dated November 30, 2013 . She won the first fight over Chinese Taipe and the second match is ABE KANA japan team , who rank no. 4 in the world judo ranking , Natalo si kiyomi ng second fight . Indeed maganda ang experience ng Bata with ABE KANA. Dec. 3 we arrived Manila for Hainan . For short my daughter is very happy for the result inspite of busy schedule…as january 2014 Kiyomi rank 98 in IJF world Judo ranking list .
Thank you so much for the supports and Regards
