Philippines powered it’s way to 2014 Fed Cup Group II final play-off


Team Philippines powered it’s way past Turkmenistan yesterday to advance to the final play-off of the 2014 Federation Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan yesterday, for a place in the Asia/Oceania Group I in 2015.

Anna Clarice Patrimonio spent little time in demolishing Turkmenistan’s Jahana Bayramova, and defeated the Turk in straight sets, 6-2 6-0

Marian Jade Capadocia on the other hand, was challenged by Turkmenistan’s Anastasiya Prenko in the second singles game.

Capadocia lost the first set, 4-6 to Prenko, but bounced back in the second and third set, 6-4 6-0, en route to winning the second singles match.

Patrimonio and Capadocia then teamed for the doubles match against, Bayramova and Kadyorova, where the Filipino pair spent little time to close the game in two sets, 6-1 6-1

With the win over Turkmenistan, Team Philippines will face Hong Kong in the final play-off, for a place in the Group 1 of Asia/Oceania in the 2015 Federation Cup.

Hong Kong beat India, 2-0, to advance to the final play-off.
