The Philippine national youth basketball team is expected to encounter stiff opposition in the FIBA World Under-17 Championship after being bracketed with top teams in the competition late Wednesday.
The squad was drawn into Group A joining powerhouse United States, Greece, and Angola.
Group B is composed of Japan, France, Canada, and Australia; Group C includes Puerto Rico, United Arab Emirates, and Spain; while Group D features Argentina, Serbia, China, and Egypt.
The Philippines, coached by Jamike Jarin, qualified for the competition after a silver medal finish in the FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship last year.
The world tournament, the third edition of the competition, will be held from June 28 to July 6 in Dubai.
