Seeded second in the women’s doubles Bron tournament, Filipina netter Katharina Lehner paired with German Anna Klasen to win their semifinal match against the third seed to advance to the finals of the $10,000 Bron ITF Tournament in Bron France last night.

Lehnert and Klasen faced Michaela Boev of Belgium and Ioana Loredana Rosca of Romania in the women’s doubles semifinal round last night, which was a battle for the 2nd and the 3rd seed for a place for the finals.

Lehnert and Klasen too the first set 6-3, while the pair of Boev and Rosca came back to win the second set 6-2.

The Filipina and German pair proved much more focused in the third set, and finally won the match at 10-6, to advance to the finals on Saturday against the first seed Isabella Shinikova of Bulgaria and Alyona Sotnikova of Ukraine.

Lehnert and Klasen had a bye in the first round, and won their second round game against French doubles partners Audrey Albie and Kinnie Laisne via walk-over.

In the women’s Singles, top Filipina netter Lehnert failed to advance to the quarterfinal round after loosing to Lara Michel of Switzerland in straight sets, 6-0 6-3.

Lehnert believes that she needs more singles matches this year to regain her confidence and finally find her form to win games in the singles.

She’s scheduled to compete at the $25,000 Preston ITF tournament next week, but still awaits her final slot for the qualifying tournament. She’s currently 6th in the alternate list for the Preston qualifying tournament.

Other Filipino netters in action this week at the ITF Tournaments are Maika Jae Tanpoco in the $10,000 Nonthaburi ITF tournament, and Kirksten Rebuyas at the $10,000 India F1 Futures Men’s tournament.

Tanpoco lost her first round qualifying game against China’s Yukun Zhang Zhang, 6-0 6-1

Rebuyas won his first round qualifying game against Raghvendra Subramanya of India (6-2 6-1), but bowed down of contention in the second round of the qualifying tournament after loosing to India’s Chandril Sood in straight sets 6-0 7-5
