After resetting his 200m Butterfly junior record of the 14-15 age band early early this year, Maurice Sacho Ilustre again reset his own junior record last weekend at the Speedo G-League NCR Leg 1 Swimming Championship in La Salle Zobel swimming pool, Manila.
Fifteen year-old Sacho clocked a new record time of 2:11.06 in en route to winning the gold medal of the 200m butterfly 15 year-old boys event; resetting his old record of 2:11.21.
Apart from resetting his old junior national record, Sacho also registered great improvements in his freestyle events where he also won the gold medals in the 100m and 400m freestyle with new improved times of 56.44 and 4:17.88.
Soon swimming as a De La Salle Green Tanker, Sacho is currently preparing for the Palarong Pambansa 2014 this May, and the 38th Southeast Asian Age Group Swimming Championship in Singapore this June.
At the 38th SEA AG Championship, he will also try to qualify for a slot in the 2014 Youth Olympics Philippine team, where he has quite a chance of beating the 2:08.44 YOG qualifying B standard time.
