The reigning Ironman of Southeast Asia, Jesson Ramil Cid, broke his decathlon record anew at last month’s 2014 Philippine National Games in PhilSports Complex, Pasig City.
Cid reset his 7038 record, clocked in Myanmar SEA Games, to 7069 after dominating the said event in PNG with 9 first place finish and just 1 fifth place.
He ranked first in 110 Hurdles (15.52), 100m Run (10.89), Long Jump (7.05), Shot Put (11.71), High Jump (1.97), 400m Run (48.16), Javelin Throw (47.63), 15000m Run (4:35.88), and Pole Vault (4.10).
After fouling two of his three throws in the Discuss Throw event, Cid only managed to throw 26.67 which is a far cry of his 35m best.
Had he performed well in the Discuss Throw event, he would have breached the 7,200 border and move closer to the top 5 finish in the previous Asian Games.
DLSU’s Ralph Efraem Gesulgan took home the silver medal with 5976 points, while Philippine Air Force’ Ray Cris Capispisan won the bronze medal with 5878 points.
