The battle of Southeast Asia’s top youth swimmers starts tomorrow at the 38th Southeast Asia Age Group Swimming Championship in Singapore Sports School, Singapore.
The three day SEA AG meet is an annul swim meet that features all top youth swimmers in the SEA region competing for the top plum in the 16-18, 14-15, and 13 & Under age group categories.
Team Philippines is represented this year by 22 top swimmers in the country, which banner Roxanne Ashley Yu, Kirsten Chloe Daos and Jethro Roberts Chua who have already registered times that meet Youth Olympic Games 2014 qualifying standards.
Last year’s SEA AG medalists Catherine Bondad and Ariana Herranz are also part of the 16-18 AG team, while multiple medalists Regina Maria Paz Castrillo and Raissa Regatta Gavino spearhead the 14-15 age band along with Daos.
The 16-18 team Philippines is beefed up with Asian Youth Games veterans Jeremy Bryan Lim and Rafael Sta. Maria; UAAP Season 75 and 76 MVP Gerard Christoffe Reyes; Palarong Pambansa and UAAP stand out Alberto Batungbacal, and budding swimmer Romina Rafaelle Gavino.
National age-group Philippine record holder Maurice Sacho Ilustre also takes a plunge in the 14-15 age group category, so as Palarong Pambansa and national age-group championship stand-outs Joshua Taleon, Miguel Karlo Barlisan, Andrai Miguel Pogiongko and Roman Rafael Gavino.
The 13 and Under Philippine team will be bannered rising swimming superstars Marco Luis Austriaco, Phillip Joaquin Santos, Samantha Therese Coronel, Dominique Gabrielle Velasco and Xiandi Chua.
In the 37th edition of the SEA Age Group Swimming championship held in Brunei, team Philippine has brought home 3 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze medals for the country.
The 38th edition of the SEA Age Group Swimming Championship is also a qualifying event for the 2nd Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China this August 2014.
