The Philippine national youth swimmers rake medals on day two of the 38th Southeast Asian Games Swimming Championships in Singapore Sports School, Singapore.
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) junior record holder Andrae Miguel Pogiongko delivered a stellar performance in the 400m Individual Medley 14-15 Boys event by winning the silver medal.
He cut 9 seconds of his best time (5:00.49) in the said event en route to his 4:51.49 silver medal clocking.
Apart from his silver medal finish, he also delivered a top 5 finish in the 50m Butterfly 14-15 Boys event with an improved time of 27.52
2nd Youth Olympic Games qualifier, Roxanne Ashley Yu, again registered a YOG “A” Qualifying Standard time in the 200m Backstroke 15-18 Girls event, and also won the silver medal of the said event with a time of 2:19.54
Philippine national junior record holder Maurice Sacho Ilustre debuted on a high note at the SEA Age Group Swimming and also contributed a medal for Team Philippines.
Fifteen year-old Sacho placed third in the 200m Freestyle 14-15 Boys event after registering a bronze medal time of 2:01.69.
Swimmers Jethro Roberts Chua, Romina Rafaelle Gavino, Joshua Taleon and Miguel Karlo Barlisan were all closed to podium finish after placing 4th in their respective events.
Another YOG qualifier Jethro Roberts Chua clocked 1:56.15 in the 200m Freestyle 15-18 Boys event to finish fourth, while Romina Rafaelle Gavino was few seconds away to a bronze medal finish with her 5:24.31 clocking in the 15-18 Girls 400m Individual Medley event.
Josha Taleon again placed 4th in his breaststroke event, with an improved 100m time of 1:09.52; while Miguel Karlo Barlisan was 4 millisecond short to a podium finish in the 50m Freestyle 14-15 Boys event with his time of 25.45
With the two silver medal and a bronze medal finish on day two of the competition, Team Philippines has now raked 3 silver 2 bronze medals.
