Adeline Ancheta and Arthus Bucay win silver and bronze at Incheon Asian Para Games

Powerlifter Adeline Ancheta and cyclist Arthus Bucay won silver and bronze medal today at the 2014 Asian Para Games in Incheon, Korea.

The 2013 ASEAN Para Games silver medalist Ancheta, secured another silver medal for the Philippines as she successfully lifted 115kg in her first attempt in the Women’s +86kg A powerlifting event.

With hope of securing the first gold medal for Team Philippines, Ancheta went for 118kg and 122kg in her second and third attempts, but failed.

Korea’s Hyun-Jung Lee took home the gold and UAE’s Alnauami settled for bronze.

In cycling, Arthus Bucay finished the 81 kilometer Men’s Individual C 4-5 Road Race in 2:10.29 hours, enough to place third and win the bronze medal.

China’s Guoping Wei clinched the gold in 2:10:26, while another Chinese, Xinyang Liu won the silver.

Compatriot Godfrey Taberna finished 7th with a time of 2:14.48.

Ancheta’s and Bucay’s win bring Philippines’ medal count to 5 silver and 5 bronze medals, enough to rank 23rd in the medal tally.
