Team Philippines will be seeing action at the 4th Asian Beach Games in Phuket, Thailand from November 14-23, 2014.
Richard Gomez, Philippines’chief de mission to the biennial beach games, hopes that Team Philippines, who finished 11th in the previous edition, will surpass the 2 silver and 2 bronze performance in 2012, and finally win the elusive gold in Phuket.
The fourth edition of the game, which was supposed to be held in Boracay this year but was later on transferred to phuket by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), will be participated by more than 6,000 athletes and team officials from 45 different Asian countries.
Athletes will be vying in 168 events and 26 beach sports which include air sport (paragliding and powered paragliding), aquatics (beach water polo and marathon swimming), beach basketball 3×3, beach handball, beach volleyball, bodybuilding, sailing (sailing and windsurfing), sambo, squash, woodball, beach kabaddi, beach sepaktakraw, beach wrestling, foot volley, kurash, jetski sport, ju-jitsu, muaythai, petanque, beach athletics, beach modern pentathlon, triathlon (duathlon and triathlon), water ski (water ski/wakeboard, cable wakeboard/ wakeskate), beach flag football, beach soccer, extreme sports (inline stunt, skateboard, BMX freestyle and sports climbing).
Team Philippines will have a send-off party on November 7, and are expected to live Phuket in the second week of next month.
