Five Philippine youth swimmers will be seeing action at the FINA Swimming World Cup in OCBC Aquatic Centre, Singapore this weekend.
Spearheading Philippines’ campaign is Youth Olympian Roxanne Ashley Yu who is joining this meet in preparation for her debut in next year’s Singapore SEA Games in June.
Joining Yu in the swimming world cup are the Asian Youth Gamers Jeremy Bryan Lim, Jethro Robert Chua and Kirsten Chloe Daos.
SEA Age Group swimming championship multi-medalist, Raissa Regatta Gavino, is also seeing action this weekend.
Yu who has already represented Philippines in Swimming World Cup last year, is set to swim in all backstroke events as well as 100m Fly and 200m Individual Medley events; while Chua, who has also represented Philippines in swimming world cup last year, is seeing action in 50, 100, 200 and 400 meter Freestyle events.
Swimming along the world’s best for the first time are Lim, Daos and Gavino.
Lim is set to take the plunge in all butterfly events as well as the 50m and 100m Freestyle; while Daos also set to swim in all butterfly events as well as the 400m and 800m Freestyle events.
Gavino, the youngest in the group at 14, is entered in all Breaststroke events, as well as all Individual Medley events.
