Philippine Waterski athletes were off to a good start at the cable wakeskate events as Susan Madelene Larsson and Jose Vicente Cembrano won silver and bronze at the 4th Asian Beach Games in Phuket, Thailand last Sunday.
Larsson, topped the round 1 of the Women’s Cable Wakeskate finals with
80.67 points, but Thailand’s Tantanasorn Chaiyabood, who ranked 3rd in round 1 with 71 points showed an impressive routine in round 2 to grab the gold medal with 85 points; relegating Larsson to second position with a silver medal points of 82 in round 2.
Cembrano on the other hand only managed to score 45 points in the round 1 of the Men’s Cable Wakeskate finals to rank 5th among 6th finalists, but with his determination to win, he scored 78 points in round 2 to clinch the bronze medal of the said event.
Thailand’s Techin Nakajima and Burid Detwilaisri finished 1st and 2nd with gold and silver medal scores of 86.67 and 86 points respectively.
Today, both Larsson and Cembrano will again see action in the finals of the Team Cable Wakeskate events; while compatriot Angelo Louise Linao, Paul Anthony Symon Cantos, Maria Samantha Bermudez and Andrea Michelle Tanjangco have also qualified in today’s finals of the Team Cable Wakeboard events.
Team Philippines’s Waterski athletes are vying for gold in all 4 events today.
