The Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) could hold tournaments and other means of talent identification to find the best players of the land, but if they will not vote on a new set of officers, these will all be useless as the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will not recognize these players as members of the national team.
PSC chairman Richie Garcia backs PVF’s plan to hold a national beach volleyball circuit in 2015, to help the PVF identify the top players in the country. They plan to hold the ciruit in the key cities of the country.
Chan added that even if the tournament will not end by the time the Southeast Asian Games have started, the top players will by that time still represent the country.
This plan may fall flat on its face since Garcia said PSC will not recognize this if the national sports association will get its act together.
Garcia said the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), which is the umbrella organization of all NSAs headed by Peping Cojuangco, and PSC will not honor any of PVF’s recommendation for the members of the RP team both in indoor volleyball and beach volleyball unless PVF will comply with POC-PSC rules. They need to conduct an election among its stakeholders from all over the country.
“If they will not comply then we cannot guarantee that we will honor their recommendation as of the moment,” said Garcia.
