NCAA’s Season 90 MVP, Jose Mari Sebastian Arcilla, reset the 15 year-old 200m Individual Medley 14-15 Boys Junior Philippine national record yesterday at the 6th ASEAN School Games in Marikina City, Philippines.
Arcilla smashed the 2:15.52 record of Jonathan Villagracia set in 1999 after clocking 2:14.46 in the 200m Individual Medley finals at the Marikina Swimming pool where he finished in 4th place.
This is the first junior national record for the fifteen year-old Arcilla, and is definitely just a start of more junior records to come.
Meanwhile, Philippines’ campaign at the ASEAN School Games continues today with Joshua Junsay, Miggy Arellano, Nikki Pamintuan and Imee Saavedra seeing action at the 400m Freestyle event; while Aldo Batungbacal, Paolo Mutuc, Joy Rodgers and Pricila Loren Aquino in the 200m Breaststroke event.
Reagan Gavino and Pricila Loren Aquino on the other hand swim in the 800m Freestyle.
In Doha Qatar, Philippine senior swimmers starts their campaign at the 12th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m)
Taking the plunge along with the world’s elite swimmers are Joshua Hall, Jessie Khing Lacuna, Dhill Anderson Lee, Axel Toni Steven Ngui, Fahad Alkhaldi, Jethro Roberts Chua, Jeremy Bryan Lim, Rafael Sta Maria, Hannah Dato, Roxanne Ashley Yu and Ariana Herranz.
