Historic performance of PH Swimmers in 2014 World Championship

Filipino swimmers made history at the recently concluded 12th FINA World Swimming Championship (25m) last weekend as Jeremy Bryan Lim, Dhill Anderson Lee, Fahad Alkhaldi and Jessie Khing Lacuna teamed-up to qualify for the Men’s 4x50m Freestyle Relay finals in Doha, Qatar.

The PH relay team clocked 1:34.33 to place 8th in the morning preliminary and advance to the evening finals; a first World Championship “finals” appearance for Philippines in the history of Philippine Swimming.

All four were all pumped-up in the evening finals as they improved their time to 1:33.12, still in 8th place.

The Russian team composed of Vladimir Morozov, Evgeny Sedov, Oleg Tikhobaev and Sergei Fesikov took the gold with a new world record time of 1:22.60; followed by team USA (Josh Schneider, Tom Shields, Jimmy Feigen and Ryan Lochte) with 1:23.47, and then Italy (Luca Dotto, Marco Orsi, Filippo Magnini and Marco Belotti) clinched the bronze with 1:24.56

Team Philippines was represented by Joshua Hall, Jessie Khing Lacuna, Dhill Anderson Lee, Fahad Alkhaldi, Jethro Roberts Chua, Jeremy Bryan Lim, Rafael Sta Maria, Hannah Dato, Roxanne Ashley Yu and Ariana Herranz.
