Full results of the 2014 Batang Pinoy Luzon Leg held last November 11-14 in Naga City are now included in the 2014 Philippine Swimming Ranking.
Most notable swimmers in the said meet who have made an impact in the ranking are Maurice Sacho Ilustre, Ethan Roy Go, Marco Austriaco, Kurt Anthony Chavez, and Bhay Maitland Newberry.
Sacho Ilustre clocked two junior national records in BP Luzon Leg, resetting his 200m Butterfly Boys 14-15 junior record to 2:09.97 and clocking a new 200m Freestyle record 1:59.68 in Boys 14-15 bracket. He has also breached the 1 minute mark in the 100m Butterfly event after clocking a gold medal time of 59.10 seconds.
Tanauan City’s (Batangas) Ethan Roy Go made his mark in the Breaststroke events after sweeping all the gold medals in the 50m, 100m and 200m events.
His gold medal times of 34.42 and 2:40.93 in 50m and 200 Breast have surpassed the “AAA” 2014 Motivational Times, which could possibly clinched him an outright inclusion of the Philippine Team for next year’s SEA Age Group Swimming Championship in Malaysia. His 1:14.71 time in 100m Breast has also surpassed the “AA” Motivational Time.
The twelve-year-old swimmer of Aqua Razours Swim Team now ranks 3rd in 50m Breast Boys 13 & Under Ranking, and 2nd in both 100m and 200m Breast rankings.
2014 SEA Age Group PH Team member Marco Austriaco showed why he was part of this year’s team as he reclaimed the top position of the 50m and 100m Freestyle and Butterfly Boys 13 & Under Rankings.
His 26.75 and 58.58 clockings in 50m and 100m Freestyle, as well as his 28.73 and 1:04.47 times in 50m and 100m Butterfly events all breached the “AAA” Motivational times this year.
Twelve-year-old Austriaco also now ranks 2nd in the 200m Freestyle Boys 13 & Under ranking with his time of 2:13.27, which breaches the “AA” Motivational Time.
Kurt Anthony Chavez on the other hand is another twelve-year-old swimmer who made waves in the Freestyle events.
The Naga City swimmer registered “AA” Motivational Times in 100m, 200m, 400m and 1500m Freestyle events; where he now ranks 5th in the Boys 13 & Under 100m Free ranking with his time of 1:02.35, 3rd in 200m Free Ranking (2:13.71), 4th in 400m Free Ranking (4:48.72), and 3rd in 1500m Free Ranking (18:53.04).
Anitpolo Rizal’s Bhay Maitland Newberry is another swimmer to watch in Philippine Swimming.
At age of 11, she registered “AA” Motivational Times in 50m and 100m Freestyle as well as in 50m Backstroke.
Her 31.10 clocking in 50m Free put her on 4th rank in the Girls 13 & Under ranking, 7th in 100m Free ranking with 1:06.12, and 4th in 50m Backstroke ranking with 33.24 clocking.
Newberry’s 33.24 time in 50m Backstroke has also clinched her a spot in the Philippine National Ranking (overall ranking) where she ranks 20th – and is the youngest among the elite 50m Filipina Backstrokers.
Other swimmers who have debuted in the Philippine National Rankings are Patrick Galvez (15th in 1500m Free), Terence Buico (27th in 100m Fly), Xiandi Chua (21st in 400m Free), Bela Louise Magtibay (26th in 800m Free), Mary Olegario (26th in 50m Fly, 24th in 200m Back and 30th in 200m IM), Sarah Ashley Alvina (18th in 50m Breast and 30th in 100m Breast), Maia Ner (19th in 50m Breast), Milcah Therese Mina (29th 100m Breast and 23rd in 200m Breast)
Swimmers with improved PH National Rankings are Jose Mari Sebastian Arcilla (from 18th to 12th in 200m Free and from 14th to 10th in 200m IM), Roman Rafael Gavino (from 30th to 29th in 50m Breast), Ianiko Limfilipino (from 19th to 17th in 200m Breast and from 21st to 18th in 400m IM), Terence Matthew Buico (from 24th to 20th in 50m Fly), Rafael Barreto (from 29th to 22nd in 50m Fly and from 26th to 22nd in 100m Fly), Yuri Ilustre (from 18th to 17th in 400m IM), Regina Maria Paz Castrillo (from 14th to 11th in 50m Free and from 25th to 21st in 100m Free), Nicole Meah Pamintuan (from 17th to 14th in 200m Free), Xiandi Chua (from 21st to 13th in 50m Back and from 15th to 14th in 400m IM), and Bela Louise Magtibay (from 14th to 13th in 50m Breast and 22nd to 19th in 200m Breast).
