Rio Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz is set to be honored by an airline firm at a ceremony in Thailand.

AirAsia recently announced it is giving free flights to athletes from Asean member nations who bagged medals in the recent Rio Olympics.
As a silver medalist in the women’s 53kg weightlifting at the Rio Olympics, Diaz will enjoy free AirAsia flights for five years.
Meanwhile, Mass housing developer 8990 Holdings Inc. in its commitment to support Philippine athletes has rewarded weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz with a house and lot package for winning a silver medal in the recent Rio Olympics.
Diaz received a one-storey unit on a 53 square meter lot at Deca Homes in Clark. The unit has an estimated value of P450,000.
The granting of the reward was part of a memorandum of agreement that was recently signed by 8990 President and Chief Executive Officer Januario Jesus Atencio and Philippine Sports Commission Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez.
Under the agreement, 8990 will award house and lot packages to medalists in the Rio Olympics and cash rewards of P10,000 to each Filipino delegates in the quadrennial sporting event.
“We believe that sports develop discipline, we just don’t build houses for families but we also aim to make their lives better,” Atencio said in a statement.
